for earth day, the secret (all-natural) ingredients for fresh west coast beauty: Keys Natural Sunscreen (the best, without the chemicals – high zinc, looks great on its own and under makeup); Eucalyptus oil (several drops with some Epsom salts for a stress-relieving bath, people); Dr. Hauschka Rose Oil & Moisturizer (so good on the skin – mix a few drops of oil with moisturizer and apply all over post bath/shower); Weleda Skin Food (apply to hands at night for years-off by morning); Ecotools facial cleansing sponges (better than Clarsonic, promise: swipe a makeup remover first, then apply without water this surprise/unbelievable facial cleanser, gently clean with the sponge and, finally, rinse); RMS Organic Beauty (this stuff makes everyone look lit-from-within-pretty and it’s a quick application – a little beauty oil, some color on lips and cheeks, defining mascara, dab of “un”coverup, luminizer - done.)

Yesterday my neighbor stopped by and bestowed upon us a pint of perfectly ripe organic strawberries from the farmers market. I quartered them into small bowls filled with whipped cream (plus some chocolate sauce drizzle for the kiddos) and the whole thing was heaven. I use Strauss organic heavy cream – 35 percent butterfat, people – and really the flavor is amazing. Plus, the pint-size glass bottle looks beautiful as a kitchen counter bud vase post-whip…and a lovely little thank-you when delivered to my neighbor.

Tomorrow morning I’m taking my girls to Williams-Sonoma so that they can learn to “crack and separate, hard boil, scramble and make the most delicious egg sandwiches” whilst I sip coffee and flip through new cookbooks. A perfect start to the weekend.
